The Key to Understanding God's Messiah

We take it for granted today that Jesus came to earth to suffer and die for our sins. However, such was not the case with the first disciples. They expected a victorious and triumphant Messiah, not a crucified one. In Matthew 16:21-28 Jesus begins to disclose His coming death and resurrection to the disciples for the very first time, but He is quickly confronted by Peter, who firmly rejects the idea that this is a realistic outcome for the Messiah. Jesus immediately rebukes Peter, and as He rebukes Peter He teaches His disciples a very important lesson about what it takes to understand God's purposes. What is this lesson? Ryan explains in a message entitled "The Key to Understanding God's Messiah."
