The Affections of Faith (Part 2)

The gospel transforms more than just our status before God and even more than just our actions. It transforms our very desires, and, with them, even the types of emotions we feel as a result. This is, to a large degree, a good way for us to evaluate the extent to which we are believing in and applying the gospel at our heart: "Am I feeling the kinds of emotions that flow from faith in Jesus Christ?" And to that end, the emotions that Paul expresses in his opening remarks to the Romans in Romans 1:8-15 are quite helpful. They give us a window into the emotional life of a spiritually healthy soul.
