This Week @ Cornerstone: March 22, 2021
Cornerstone Family,
I know this message is getting out super late this week, but I wanted to give you a heads-up on a couple of things going on going into this week-end.
Maundy Thursday Benevolence. Earlier, I said that we would be taking up a special benevolence offering on Maundy Thursday, which would be given to the Carthage Crisis Center. Well, the Crisis Center as received a pledge to match gifts up to something like $20-25k (in total) through the end of the month. With that in mind, we’re going to move the benevolence offering up to this Sunday instead of to next Thursday in order to maximize the benefit that we can get out of the gift. So if you’re wanting to contribute, I’d encourage you to give your offering this Sunday. Just note “benevolence,” either on the check or on the offering envelope. (We don’t have an option to do this through the app at this time.)
Easter Reading Plan. I mentioned that one of the benefits of our new app is that we can create our own custom reading plans in the “Bible” section of the app (under “Plan”). Well, I created our own custom reading plan for Easter week. Starting tomorrow, you can track what’s happening on each day of Passion Week (in chronological order) just by following the readings under the “Plan” selection in the “Bible” tab. Some days will have shorter readings, others longer (such as Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday), but if you’d like to take time to read through what was happening on each day of Passion Week during your daily devotions, this should be available to you. (NOTE: This is a harmonized reading – so it won’t provide each reading from Matthew, Mark, and Luke, for instance, but it will “fill in the gaps” in their different presentations of Passion Week. So if you just read straight through each day’s reading, it should provide you with a pretty comprehensive overview of Easter week.)
If you guys have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Looking forward to seeing you all this Sunday!
